About

The Scholars of Civic Engagement is a group founded at CSU formed in December of 2025 utilizing different fields within the Liberal Arts (Sociology, Political Science, Anthropology, Philosophy, and Criminology) to find intersectional issues that lead to public safety risks. Through diverse disciplines, we seek to understand the connectivity of the many through the lens of each discipline. Together we home to build relationships with others in like-minded fields such as social work and addiction perspectives with a common goal to widen the threshold that allows Coloradans to fall into or remain impoverished. We see a rise and change driven by local policy, enforcement, and social changes that intersect with institutional factors. A large part is the financial struggle and limited space within communities. Access and distance to daily requirements such as work, food, and other miscellaneous needs. These balances shape how we collaborate and find value, as we see those we care about struggling to survive.

We come from many backgrounds, and so do those we seek to reach, all in hopes of bringing action and insight under a shared flag. The Scholars of Civic Engagement don’t look to spearhead this change, but to help catalyze community-led action within the communities we care for, for the sake of themselves and those they care for. Without community action, all cultural aspects within the community will be led by the bottom line of our local and state governments in their own balance of community care.
